The Lyrics

Rainmaker's Review:

This has to be one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard besides 'Tank Girl'. It's chalk-full alternative goodness. It's hard for me to single out one song as being the best, because they are all equal yet different. Nine Inch Nails delivers with an awesome tune written by Joy Division (one of James O'Barr's influences), full of pounding guitar riffs and good drum beats. The Cure performs what I think to be one of their best songs ever called 'Burn', containing some great Crow-related lyrics. Stone Temple Pilots crank out a scream-along anthem called 'Big Empty' which is sure to keep you interested. The Violent Femmes produce a ballad called 'Color Me Once', and I, having much experience in the realm of the Violent Femmes, say this has to be one of their best songs also. Rollins Band doesn't impress me much with their song 'Ghostrider', which is about a DIFFERENT dark comic book hero anyway. Pantera's abdominal-crushing track 'The Badge' is probably the most annoying song on the whole CD. Though it makes a good point about corrupt cops, the song itself lacks in many things. 'Snakedriver', by 'The Jesus and Mary Chain' starts out well enough, but gives me a migraine after a while due to it's screeching guitar work. Many no-name bands and artists such as 'Machines Of Loving Grace' (now known as 'The Machines'), 'For Love Not Lisa', 'Medicine' and 'My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult' add some nice tracks to the album. Jane Siberry finishes it all off with a soft and beautiful number conviently named 'It Can't Rain All The Time'. A well-rounded album and a great addition to anyone's music collection.
